Wouldn’t it be great…

May 19th, 2011

…if the Village of Holly reinstituted annual Town Hall meetings? Of course, meetings like these attracts everything from good suggestions and helpful opinions to aimless complaining and the lunatic fringe. Nevertheless, an open forum meeting like a Town Hall gives Village of Holly residents to speak their minds and perspectives on any issue they see as important. Village Council members need not be passive listeners, either–this is the opportunity to speak about issues, solicit input on ideas, and ask questions of the public without being constrained by a particular agenda.

And if for no other reason, a Town Hall meeting is the ideal demonstration of our republican and democratic system of government–bringing our elected officials and the people who elected them together to discuss our present and our future.

Very good idea, I wonder what type of input we’d get from our Council members concerning a “Town Hall Meeting”?

  2. Jason Hughes says:

I am all for it if there is enough demand for it and enough participation.
